Discussion on Tool Calling in LLMs: Hot Topic or Overhyped?

Aparna D. Dropped this note on MCP (Model Context Protocol). My take is its one of those things that is hot in social but won't eventually get pickup. My reason - tool calling as used with LLMs is REALLY useful but none of the usecases I see is "textbook". The tool calling is application control flow and the interfaces are much wider than the tool / parameter definition & how you use results back in LLMs are not cookie cutter.
